A love of life by the water

I have always loved the waterways of the UK, and the nature living in and around them. A day beside a river is about far more than the fish: it is kingfishers flashing past, insects over the water, changing light and the chance to notice a wild place at close quarters.

Made by a very casual angler

I am not an expert angler. I fish casually, and my 11-year-old son is already better at it than I am. RiverFish grew from the sort of questions we ask before heading out: which fish have been found in a river, where were they recorded and how recent is the evidence?

Helping you find your next spot

I hope RiverFish helps other anglers find the best spots to fish, or simply learn more about a river they already know. The records are a useful starting point rather than a promise of a catch, so always check local access, permits, fishing rules and current conditions before you visit.
